RSO Web SitesAll official RSO web sites must be housed on the cavern.uark.edu server. Cavern is the primary web server for the University of Arkansas's Registered Student Organization and departmental pages. Cavern runs Unix as the operating system. If you need an account on cavern to develop a new site for a UA organization, request this account through the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. If your organization already has a Web site, to edit the pages, you will need the username and password for that account. The authorizing representative who must sign the request form for this account will be the faculty advisor for the registered campus or student organization. For help in resetting passwords, linking your page, and changing ownership of an account, contact the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. Web pages can be uploaded to the server using an HTML editor, and you can log into your cavern account using SSH Secure Shell, Mac SSH, or a file transfer option. URLs for RSO web sites will be: RSO web site restrictions include:
Migration of a web site from comp.uark.edu to cavern.uark.eduRSO web sites should be migrated to cavern.uark.edu by January 1, 2010. To migrate your web site from the comp.uark.edu server to the cavern.uark.edu server, you can FTP all of the files from your comp account (that are used in your web site) to your local computer, and then FTP the files up to your cavern account. Use one of the methods listed on our File Transfer page, SSH Secure File Transfer, WinSCP Secure File Transfer, or a mapped drive. If you have created and maintain your site using Dreamweaver, you can create a new site in Dreamweaver by clicking Site, New Site. Under the Advanced tab, Remote Info, set FTP host to cavern.uark.edu. Under Local Info, set the Local root folder to the same folder that you had set for the web site on comp.uark.edu. Make sure that all of your files are stored locally. If you are unsure if all of your web site's files are in the local directory, click Site, Synchronize Sitewide and Get newer files from remote.
