Web Hosting on comp.uark.edu

Getting an account:

All UARK users are provided with a comp.uark.edu account. To log in to comp, use your email username and password.

About:

comp.uark.edu is a Unix server available to all UARK users who want to create a personal web site. Read more about building a Personal Web Site on comp.uark.edu.

Read more information on the comp.uark.edu server.

See our Policies page for policies to be aware of when creating a web site.

URL Example:

http://comp.uark.edu/~username
where "username" is your actual UARK username.
If the filename of the page you are wanting to view is NOT index.html, you will also need to add the filename to the end of the URL. If you have created the file in a subdirectory, you will need to include the subdirectory in the path. If you have uploaded your file to comp.uark.edu into a subdirectory of public_html and named the file something other than index.html, your URL will be something like the following:
http://comp.uark.edu/~username/directory/filename.html
Note: Your URL is case sensitive. If the filename (or folders/directories) includes uppercase letters, for instance, they will be required in the URL.

Accessing comp:

Comp can be accessed through SSH, SFTP, a mapped drive, Web&Apps in UA Mail, and SMB (on campus only). Information on these options is available from the File Transfer page. Web sites on comp can be created and edited using an HTML editor; Dreamweaver and KompoZer are supported by ITS.

Use your UARK username and password to log into your comp.uark.edu account.

For information regarding your quota on cavern, see our Unix System User Quotas page.
