Web hosting with cavern.uark.eduGetting an account:To request a cavern account, go to the Account ID Request Form available in the Online Forms section of the Request Forms and Docs page. About:cavern.uark.edu is the primary web development server and the primary FTP server for the University of Arkansas (also refered to as www.uark.edu). The operating system on cavern.uark.edu is Unix. For support and information about Unix, please visit the ITS Unix Support page. Web development on cavern is available for UA departmental web sites and RSO web sites. The default quota for a cavern account is 200 MB.
All official UARK web sites must be published through RedDot Content Management System. See the Reddot Resource Center for further information.
Official University departments and organizations interested in creating a web presence on cavern (www.uark.edu) should request a UA Information Provider's computing account. For details and request form links, please visit the UA Information Provider Web Authoring page. Accessing cavern:
cavern.uark.edu can be accessed through SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol), Secure Shell, and SMB (only available on campus). Use only the first 8 characters of your password when mapping a drive to cavern. File transfer software downloads are available from the File Transfer page. Web sites on cavern can be created and edited using an HTML editor; Dreamweaver and KompoZer are supported by UITS. For information regarding your quota on cavern, see our Unix System User Quotas page. Your cavern.uark.edu username and password are not necessarily the same as your UARK username and password. You can reset your cavern password at PASSweb.
