Connecting to the UA Wireless Network

Windows

1. Follow the instructions for installing/configuring your wireless NIC; specify UA-WLAN as the SSID where indicated. Note: the SSID is case sensitive. (The process of this step will depend on your wireless card. Please see your owner's manual for details.)
2. Using XP/Vista, right-click the LAN Connection and go to properties.
   Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
3. Make sure the following are selected:
   • Obtain an IP address automatically
   • Obtain DNS server address automatically
4. Launch a web browser and attempt to visit a site. The browser will automatically go to IP-Nexus for network authentication. Log in with your UARK username and password.

Macintosh

1. Make sure the computer's AirPort card is on (via the AirPort status icon in the menu bar),
   and connected to the UA-WLAN wireless network. Note: the SSID is case sensitive.
2. Using Mac OS X select System Preferences from under the Apple icon.
3. In System Preferences, select the Network icon.
4. Set the Show option to: AirPort
5. Set the Location option to: Automatic
6. Click the AirPort tab; make sure UA-WLAN (case sensitive) is specified under the
   Join a specific network: item.
7. Click the TCP/IP tab.
8. Set Configure to: Using DHCP
9. Click the Apply Now button.
10. Launch a web browser and attempt to visit a site. The browser will automatically go to IP-Nexus for network authentication. Log in with your UARK username and password.

PDA

1. Open the configuration software of your wireless PDA. The primary piece of information needed is the network name (the Service Set Identifier or SSID). The SSID of the UA wireless network is:
   UA-WLAN
   Note: This is case sensitive.
   The software for your wireless PDA will indicate successful connection to the wireless network.
2. Open your web browsing program. Attempt to visit a Web page. You will be redirected to the IP-Nexus authentication page. Enter your UARK username and password. Log in. You will receive a confirmation screen.
