Getting Online

Public Access Networks

Networks available to the University community.
  • Wireless Access Points
    This network is available to allow students, faculty, and staff an area of wireless coverage to access the network. Users must be in an area of wireless coverage to access the network.
  • Wired Public Ports
    Accessible network ports allow students, faculty, and staff to access the campus network using network-capable laptops and portable devices.

To dial in to the University of Arkansas network to access the Internet, you must be a University student, faculty or staff member, or emeritus with a UARK account, a modem, and phone line.

Configuration and DHCP connection procedures for workstations (PC, Macintosh, and Sun) and network printing information for Windows and Macintosh including TCP/IP print, RPM, and Mac IP printing.

This page lists any current network issues with IT Services' host computers, UARKnet router interfaces (including each subnet on campus), ARKnet router interfaces, and the campus connection to the Internet (designated as GINS) and is updated approximately every 3 minutes.

ResNet is part of University Housing and provides local network and Internet services to the University's residence halls (rooms and labs).

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a tool that can be used by UARK users for secure access to the University network from off campus. VPN enables access to servers such as comp, cavern, www3, gizmo, and MyDocs as if on campus.
