Recent Campus Outages

Late in the evening of Monday, March 24th, University IT Services began experiencing intermittent Internet connectivity issues with the primary production host network within the Data Center. The issue created problems accessing such systems as ISIS, email, My Docs, and production web services, among others. Once the issue began, it got progressively worse. Network engineer staff worked throughout the early morning hours to troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve the problems as quickly as possible and services were restored to their normal capacity.

Last night (March 26), beginning around 11:30 pm, the generators in ADSB (where University IT Services is located) failed. Power was restored, however, and all systems should be back up and running. If anyone is experiencing problems, please contact the UITS Help Desk at 575-2901.

The issues experienced on Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday were totally independent events and had independent source causes. University IT Services apologizes for any inconvenience these outages may have caused and is working diligently to resolve all of these issues.

On February 21, 2008, hackers have once again attempted to fool University of Arkansas account holders through an email scam. This attack purports to originate from the administrator of uark.edu accounts, and claims that individual accounts will be removed if the message is not responded to.
As with the December 2007 incident, this message is completely fraudulent and should be ignored by all uark.edu account holders. University IT Services (formerly Computing Services) is taking steps to filter these messages.

However, users that may have replied to the email message should immediately change their password using PASSweb (http://www.uark.edu/passweb) to prevent unauthorized access to their account.
