MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC)The MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC) provides multimedia software and hardware for use free of charge by students, faculty, and staff with the intention of developing a project with an academic purpose. The MMRC staff will assist, advise, and train on software and hardware. The MMRC has academically licensed software installed on all workstations. This means that software can be used for projects that are academic in nature. Commercial use of the facility or any resources and services is prohibited. If the project is material created for course work and is to be sold, you are entitled to recoup your cost but may NOT make a profit from its sale. The hardware in the MMRC includes Windows PCs, Macintosh workstations, printers, scanners, graphics tablets, and video equipment. The MMRC provides support in videoconferencing, web conferencing, video/audio digitizing/dubbing/creation/editing, scanning of documents, photos, 35mm slides, negatives, large format negatives, and x-rays. They also provide support with web page design and layout, DVD/CD-ROM creation, animation, and 3D development. Workshops and one-on-one training are offered at the MMRC. Blackboard support is also provided at the MMRC. Location and HoursThe MMRC is located in the Gibson Annex, due west of and directly across Ozark Avenue, the street WEST of the Greek Open Air Theater. Gibson Annex is also located due north of the Gibson Residence Hall at Dickson and Ozark streets, diagonally across the corner from Kimpel Hall.
Scheduling MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC) ResourcesOne-on-one training can be scheduled with the MMRC by calling 575-7401 or contacting the appropriate staff member directly. The TeamRoom at the MultiMedia Resource Center can be reserved by contacting Eve Owens at emowens@uark.edu or by calling 575-7401. A few tips on making appointments/reservations:
MMRC Production EquipmentThe Production area of the MMRC contains workstations for scanning, 3D, and multimedia development. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to use this equipment. The Scanning area houses 3 Intel iMac workstations. There is an Epson GT15000 for large format scanning, an Epson 2500 for OCR (optical character recognition), and an Epson 4490 for slide and film scanning. There are 3 Intel-based MacPros in the 3D area. Each computer has a Wacom 6x11 Intous tablet and an Epson 1660 flatbed scanner. The Development area has 6 Intel-based iMac workstations. MMRC TeamRoomThe MMRC houses an electronically enhanced TeamRoom which is available to students, faculty, or staff requiring computers for team projects, training, workshops, video editing, presentation practice, or videoconferencing. The MMRC TeamRoom houses an Honors College SMART lectern/podium which allows any of a number of devices to have their video and audio output projected and amplified in the room. The TeamRoom has 9 Intel-based iMac workstations available for teams to use. There are 3 video workstations available for use.
