MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC)

The MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC) provides multimedia software and hardware for use free of charge by students, faculty, and staff with the intention of developing a project with an academic purpose. The MMRC staff will assist, advise, and train on software and hardware. The MMRC has academically licensed software installed on all workstations. This means that software can be used for projects that are academic in nature. Commercial use of the facility or any resources and services is prohibited. If the project is material created for course work and is to be sold, you are entitled to recoup your cost but may NOT make a profit from its sale.

The hardware in the MMRC includes Windows PCs, Macintosh workstations, printers, scanners, graphics tablets, and video equipment. The MMRC provides support in video conferencing, video/audio digitizing/dubbing/creation/editing, scanning of documents, photos, 35mm slides, negatives large format negatives, and x-rays. They also provide support with web page design and layout, DVD/CD-ROM creation, animation, and 3D development.  Workshops and one-on-one training are offered at the MMRC.  Blackboard support is provided at the MMRC.

Location and Hours

The MMRC is located in the Gibson Annex, due west of and directly across Ozark Avenue, the street WEST of the Greek Open Air Theatre. Gibson Annex is also located due north of the Gibson Residence Hall at Dickson and Ozark streets, diagonally across the corner from Kimpel Hall.

Scheduling MultiMedia Resource Center (MMRC) Resources

One-on-one training can be scheduled with the MMRC by calling 575-7401 or contacting the appropriate staff member directly. The TeamRoom at the MultiMedia Resource Center can be reserved by contacting Eve Owens at emowens@uark.edu or by calling 575-7401.

A few tips on making appointments/reservations:

  • Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are encouraged. Appointments ensure that the required staff, equipment, and resources are available.
  • When making appointments, let us know what you are wanting to do. For example, if you are going to scan slides, let us know approximately how many slides you have. This allows us to set aside enough time for you to work on your project and to ensure proper setup of needed hardware and software.
  • Please be punctual. If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, you might be rescheduled. If you're going to be late, let us know. We do keep records of who skipped appointments.

MMRC Production Equipment

The Production area of the MMRC contains workstations for scanning, 3D, and multimedia development. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to use this equipment. The MMRC houses an electronically enhanced teamroom which is available to students, faculty, or staff requiring computers for team projects, training, workshops, video editing, presenatation practice, or video conferencing. The MMRC TeamRoom houses an Honors College SMART Sympodium lectern/podium which allows any of a number of devices to have their video and audio output projected and amplified in the room.  The TeamRoom has 9 Intel-based iMac workstations available for teams to use.  There are 3 video workstations available for use.  These workstations must be scheduled by contacting Sarah Moore at skm001@uark.edu or 575-7401.
