Brown tn3270

Brown University's tn3270 is for Admin and Macintosh users and provides IBM 3270 terminal emulation for connection to the University of Arkansas BASIS systems (admin.uark.edu) and other IBM-type mainframe host computers. So that the University will be in compliance with Arkansas state security standards, effective August 1, 2006, all BASIS users will be required to use a secure 3270 terminal software product that encrypts sensitive data as it passes over the network. Admin users running the OS X operating system are required to use tn3270 in secure mode to access BASIS.

Step by Step Download Instructions

1. Click on Download Brown tn3270X, and your browser will transfer the tn3270X.dmg file to your computer.  The downloaded file should automatically appear on your Desktop.  If you have configured your browser differently, the file will transfer to your designated download  folder.
2. Open the "tn3270X.dmg" file  by double-clicking it. Mac OS X should automatically unpack the file and create a tn3270X "virtual disk drive" which contains the software. If this does not happen, please see the instructions below.
3. Open the tn3270 "virtual disk drive" and move the contents into your Applications folder
4. An icon called "Admin" is provided in the tn3270 X folder. Double-clicking the Admin icon will launch tn3270X in secure mode, and present a login screen for accessing the admin.uark.edu system.
