comp.uark.edu![]() Sun Enterprise 2900 The host, comp.uark.edu, is our primary server for academic and research computing as well as network access. This server is separate from mail.uark.edu, the University's email server. Unix is the operating system on comp; see our Unix page for more information. Log into the comp.uark.edu server using your UARK username and password. Check your comp.uark.edu quota. All U of A students, faculty, and staff can create personal web pages on their comp accounts; information on setting up your web site can be found on our Web Development page. You can access your comp account in a variety of ways; for information on these methods visit File Transfer & Storage options. Storage for large data files needed on a sporadic, non-interactive basis is also available in the Hierarachical Storage Management (HSM). Software on comp includes Pine (email client), statistical software, Lynx (text web browser), and text editors including Pico, VI Editor, and uni-XEDIT (see Pico vs vi). Programming languages on comp include C, C++, FORTRAN77, FORTRAN90, FORTRAN9, Sun Workshop development / debug environment [workshop], Java (java1.1, java1.2, and java1.3 are available; java1.2 is the current default ), gnu, python, and Perl.
