cavern.uark.edu is the primary web development server and the primary FTP server for the University of Arkansas (also refered to as www.uark.edu). Data housed on this system includes information and/or links for many different departments, colleges, and other institutions. This information is then published as www.uark.edu using the cavern host. Unix is operating system on the cavern server. The default quota for a cavern account is 200 MB.

To request a cavern account, go to the Account ID Request Form available in the Online Forms section of the Request Forms and Docs.

cavern passwords can be reset using PASSweb.

comp.uark.edu is the primary server for academic and research computing as well as network access. This server is separate from mail.uark.edu, the University's mail server; although, the both use your UARK username and password. Each student, faculty, and staff have a comp accounts with 300MB of server space that can be used for file storage and web development.

gizmo.uark.edu is the host for our Microsoft File Storage Services.
Microsoft File Storage Services allows centralized storage and collaborative sharing of files on a central server. Different users can view or edit the same file over the network. Files can be accessed from multiple locations including off-campus, and the server is backed up nightly. Storage space is available to University departments and registered student organizations without any personnel, maintenance, equipment, or software overhead.

www3 is our host for Microsoft IIS Web Services.
IIS Web Services allows web development in a Microsoft environment on the www3.uark.edu server. This is a free service available to University of Arkansas departments and organizations for hosting web pages utilizing active server technology and FrontPage extensions. The cavern.uark.edu server is still the main repository for departmental websites at the U of A.
