U of A University Information Technology Services
Student Technology Center (STC)
The STC is a facility that provides multimedia services as well as laptop, camera, projector, and digital camcorder checkouts to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Arkansas. The STC also handles checkout and set up for the mobile classrooms. The STC allows valid UA ID holders to check out equipment, use multimedia workstations, and schedule one-on-one tutorials working with multimedia software. The STC was created with funds allocated by the Student Technology Fee Committee and is managed by IT Services. The Student Technology Center (STC) is located in the Arkansas Union, directly across from the Union General Access Lab and two doors down from RZs Coffee Shop. The STC phone number is 575-8602. The STC helps with special academic projects. The projects must be of an academic nature to qualify for student project use. Students need to schedule a one-on-one meeting for assistance. STC staff will guide students in the use of equipment and software, but will not do the work for the student. The STC currently has four Apple workstations that will allow students to use both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems to work on projects. These computers have Microsoft Office and other specialized software installed. The STC also assists eligible students, faculty, and staff with university related web projects. Adobe Dreamweaver is the web site creation software application supported by the Student Technology Center (STC). STC staff can assist users in configuring Active Directory Accounts, guide users through the setup for connecting to the wireless network, and assist students with Symantec AntiVirus or Symantec Endpoint software. Student Technology Center staff cannot work on personal computers, but can direct you to appropriate personnel who can. The STC does not work on residence hall computers; these are handled by University Housing. They can be reached at 575-3951. Hours
