Setting up your UARK email account on a Windows Mobile device

The following instructions are an example using the Palm Treo 750.
Instructions are also available for using the Palm Treo 650.

You will need to open the Inbox or Messaging application; typically you can click on the Start button and then click on Inbox in the menu. This can vary depending on the device and brand.

After you have the Inbox application open, do the following to create a new account:

Click on Menu in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Click on Tools.
Click on New Account...

Email Setup (1/5)

1. Enter your email address (example: username@uark.edu).
2. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

Email Setup (2/5)

1. Auto configuration: Wait for the Status box to say Completed.
2. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

Email Setup (3/5)

1. In the Your name field, enter the name you want to be displayed when the email is received.
2. In the User name field, enter your UARK username.
3. In the Password field, enter your UARK password.
4. Click the check box next to Save Password to save your password (this is optional).
5. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

Email Setup (4/5)

1. Set the Account type to IMAP4.
2. Set Name to UARK Mail.
3. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

Email Setup (5/5)

1. In the Incoming mail field type:
   mail.uark.edu
2. In the Outgoing mail field type:
   smtp.uark.edu:2626
3. Leave the Domain field blank.
4. Click the Options button.

Options (1/3)

1. Check or uncheck the Connect and check for messages every: check box as desired.
2. We recommend setting the minutes to 60 if the check box is checked.
3. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

1. Click the check box next to Require SSL Connection to select it.
2. Click the check box next to Outgoing mail requires authentication to select it.
3. Click Next on the bottom right of the screen.

Options (3/3)

1. Set the settings here as desired.
2. We recommend unchecking the Include 2 KB of message body (this will download the message header only saving some on your data plan).
3. Click Finish on the bottom right of the screen.

Your Windows Mobile based device should now be set up correctly to use your UARK email account.

You will need a data connection to the cellular network for this to function, contact your service provider to obtain a data connection if you don't already have one.

Configuring VersaMail on the Treo 650

Open VersaMail on the Treo device and open the menu.

Tap Accounts, then Accounts Setup, then New to set up a new account.

1. Account Setup screen:
   • Account name: UARK
   • Mail Service: Other
   • Protocol: IMAP
   • Tap Next.
2. Account Name screen:
   • Username: UARK username - example: jsmith
   • Password: UARK password
   • Tap Next.
3. Still on Account Name screen:
   • Email address: UARK username@uark.edu
   • Incoming mail server: mail.uark.edu
   • Outgoing mail server: smtp.uark.edu
   • Tap Next, then tap Advanced.
4. Advanced screen:
   • Incoming Server settings (IMAP):
     • Check "Use Secure connection (SSL)"
     • Port Number: 993
     • Tap Next.
5. Still on Advanced screen:
   • Outgoing Server settings:
     • Port number: 2626
     • Check "Use Secure Connection (SSL)"
     • Check "My server requires authentication (ESMTP)"
     • Enter UARK username and password
     • Tap Done.

You will need a data connection to the cellular network for this to function, contact your service provider to obtain a data connection if you don't already have one.
