UA Mail Features
- My Account is your email account "Home", providing easy access to all the UA Mail features and layout options to customize its interface.
- My Mail provides web-based access to your UARK email account.
- My Docs provides an automatic login to your comp.uark.edu account with 300 MB of disk space for file storage and web pages.
- Calendar combines the functions of a desktop calendar and an appointment book.
- Notes allows you to create, search, organize, and import/export notes.
- AskIT automatically logs you in to the University's knowledge base of searchable information for students, staff, and faculty.
- UA Chat provides access to a web-based, Jabber instant messaging client capable of communicating with MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, and AIM instant messaging systems.
- Mail Settings allows you to filter and forward email and set vacation messages.
- Meeting Maker provides an automatic login for staff and faculty with Meeting Maker accounts.

UA Mail Access
To log in, you need a UARK Account username and password. If you have not yet picked up your username and password for your UARK account, you can do so by visiting the Account ID Distribution Facility.
Open a web browser and go to: https://uamail.uark.edu/
- In the UARK Username name field enter your UARK username.
- In the UARK Password field enter your UARK password.
Note: If you forget your password, you can reset it online at PASSweb.
- Click the Log In button.
- Click the Inbox link or the My Mail link to access your mail.

My Account Layout
My Account Layout options enable customization of your UA Mail "Home" interface. To add, edit, or remove blocks such as the Weather, Google Search, or Calendar:
- From within My Account, click the Layout menu button.
- To add a block option, select the desired option (such as My Account: Current Time) from an "Add Here:" drop downmenu, and click the Add button. Select Block Settings, and click the Save button.
- To edit an existing block's settings (such as My Mail: Folder Summary), click the edit link on the block you wish to change. Select Block Settings, and click the Save button.
- To remove a block (such as My Account: Weather), click the "X" next to the edit link on the block you wish to remove. The block will be removed.
- Click the Home menu button, or the My Account link on the navigation menu to view the changes.

UA Mail Options
A number of options can be set in UA Mail. To modify options for a specific application, click the Options icon in the top menu bar within the application. An Options menu for the application will be displayed. Once in an options page, click an options link to change options for that section. To navigate to a different application's options, select the application from the dropdown menu. You can set an option to have UAMail open up directly into your My Mail inbox when you log in rather than the My Account folder.
- Click the Options button.
- Click Display Options, and in the dropdown box for What application should My Account display after login?, choose My Mail.
- Click Save Options.

UA Mail Address Book
To access the UA Mail Address Book, click the Address Book link on the UA Mail navigation menu.
To Add an Address to the Address Book:
- Open the Address Book.
- Click Add.
- Enter the Contact Information.
- Click Save.
To Delete an Address in the Address Book:
- Browse the Address Book.
- Select the contact to delete by checking the box next to the entry.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the change when prompted by clicking OK.
To Edit an Address in the Address Book:
- Browse the Address Book.
- Click the Edit Address Book Entry icon next to a contact's name.
- Change user information as necessary.
- Click Save.
To Import an Address Book to UA Mail
- Log in to UA Mail with your UARK username and password.
- Click the Address Book link on the UA Mail navigation menu.
- Click the Import/Export menu button.
- Select the import format of the source file: Comma separated values (.csv) or Tab separated values are the most common file formats.
- To replace the current address book with the one to be imported, check the box to do so. This will delete all entries in the current address book.
- Enter the path to the .csv file to import, or click the Browse button to select the file. Once the file to import has been selected, click Next.
- Certain inquiries about the file to be imported will be made. The information is entered for you. Accepting the defaults presented, click Next.
- Select two matching fields. The matching fields should be selected to correspond as closely as possible,
[i.e., "Imported Fields: First Name" should be paired with "Available Fields: First Name" and so on, clicking the "Add Pair" button after each pairing is made.] The Selected Pair of matching fields to import will be listed below. Note: If Contact Names are imported as Full Name (not First Name, Last Name) use the Available field Alias as a match to the Imported field Full Name. After the import is complete, edit the entries by clicking the edit address book entry icon and add the contact's First and Last name information. Save the Changes.
- When all desired Imported fields and Available fields have been matched and added, click Next. UA Mail will indicate whether the import was successful or not; click the Address Book link on the navigation menu to view the results of the import.
To Export an Address Book from UA Mail
- Log in to UA Mail with your UARK username and password.
- Click the Address Book link on the UA Mail navigation menu.
- Click the Import/Export menu button.
- Under Export Address Book, Select the export format: of the source file: Comma separated values (.csv) or Tab separated values are the most common file formats.
- Click the Export button.
- On the file download window click Save. Select a location that will be easy to locate.
- Click Save.

UA Mail Attachments
To view an attachment:
- Click the Download icon and click Open.
- To download an attachment, click the Download icon and Save the file.
To send an attachment:
- Compose a message by clicking the New Message button on the My Mail menu.
- Click the Attachments icon.
- Click the Browse button and select the file to attach.
- Select Disposition, Attachment, or Inline from the dropdown menu.
- Choose to Link Attachments by selecting Yes or No from the dropdown menu.
- Click the Update button. You will see a confirmation that the attachment has been added.
- Send the message.

UA Mail Signature File
A signature file contains text which is automatically added to composed messages, usually at the end of a message. To create a signature file in UA Mail:
- Open My Mail.
- Click the Options button from the menu.
- Click the Personal Information link.
- Enter a Reply-to: address (optional) if the replies should be sent to an address different from the current address.
- Enter an address(es) to Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) all messages. This is optional. Enter each address on a new line.
- Enter text to be used as Your Signature.
- Select options to Precede your signature with dashes ('--')? or Place your signature before replies and forwards?
- Click the Save Options button.
Note: If you notice that Signatures appear greyed out, there is an option under Message Viewing in the My Mail options to Dim signatures. To toggle this option on or off, check or uncheck the Dim signatures? check box.

Expanding Full Headers in UA Mail
If you have received abusive email and would like to report it, forward the email to abuse@uark.edu with the headers fully expanded:
- To view full headers in UA Mail, click the Show All Headers link while viewing a message. This will expand the header; the header information must then be copied and pasted into the message when forwarding.
- Highlight the header information, press Ctrl/C on your keyboard to copy.
- Click the Forward link to forward the message.
- Click into the message and use Ctrl/V to paste the header into the message you wish to forward.
- Forward the message.

Deleting Email with UA Mail
UA Mail has several options to delete email. To set UA Mail delete options:
- From within My Mail, click Options menu button.
- Under General Options, click the Login Tasks link.
- The following delete options are available:
- Number of old sent-mail folders to keep if deleting monthly.
- Purge old messages in the Trash folder?
- Purge Trash how often:". Select from "Yearly", "Monthly", "Weekly", "Daily", "Every Login.
- Purge messages in Trash folder older than this amount of days.
- Select Desired Options and Click the Save Options button.
- After changes have been saved, click the Return to Options button.
- Click the Deleting and Moving Messages link to set preferences for what happens when you move and delete messages. The following option is available: "Return to the mailbox listing after deleting, moving, or copying a message?".
- If desired preference is not set, check or uncheck the box and click the Save Options button.

Forwarding, Vacation Message, and Quota
Log into UA Mail to set your email to be forwarded to another email account, or to set a vacation message that replies to people who send you mail while you are away.
Forwarding
- Click the plus (+) in front of the Mail Settings link on the navigation menu to expand the directory.
- Click the Mail Forward link. A new window will open.
- In the new window, click the Mail Delivery Options link.
- Check the box next to Enable forwarding.
- In the text box enter the address to forward mail to. Enter one email address per line.
Note: To forward and not retain a local copy (on the server), uncheck the POP3/IMAP4 mailbox option above.
Click the Save button to save the changes. When done, click the Log Out button on the Mail Forward window, and close the browser window.
Vacation Message
- Click the plus (+) in front of the Mail Settings link on the navigation menu to expand the directory.
- Click the Vacation Message link. A new window will open.
- In the new window, click the Vacation Auto-Responder Rule link.
- Enter a Vacation Start Date and a Vacation End Date.
- Enter a number of days for the Interval for reply to repeat senders.
- Select Language and type a Subject line for the vacation message.
- Type the message that you would like to send in both the External Sender Message text and Internal Sender Message text fields.
- Click in the check box to Enable Vacation Message.
- Click the Save button to save the changes. When done, click the Log Out button on the Vacation Message window, and close the browser window.
Checking Quota and Usage
Your mail quota is 50MB. Your email quota is displayed under My Account in the My Mail block (if you have kept the default My Mail: Folder Summary block from the layout), or you can click My Mail, and your quota will show near the top of the screen below the menu.

Using the Fetch Mail Feature
You can use the Fetch Mail feature in UA Mail to get mail from another account.
Log into your non UA Mail account and find out what your mail server settings are as you will need them later.
Log into UA Mail at http://uamail.uark.edu/.
- Click on My Mail.
- Click on Options at the top of the screen.
- Click on Fetch Mail.
- Click on Edit your preferences for accessing other mail accounts.
- Click on Create a New Account.
- On the Mail server type to connect to, click the dropdown box and select IMAP/POP3 Mail Servers.
- Enter your other mail account information (from Step 1).
- Select the Local Mailbox (folder) where you would like to receive the fetched mail.
- Click the Create button.
- Click Return to Fetch Mail.
- Check the Show the Fetch Mail icon on the menubar? check box.
- Click Save Options.
- Click Accounts (at the top of the screen). Using the check boxes, select the account from which you wish to fetch mail.
- Click Fetch Mail.
Note: If one of your emails is too large, it will not be fetched.
