HTML or Rich Text

Not everyone has email software that is compatible with formatted text features available within Outlook Express, so they cannot see the intended benefits. Many times what is seen is garbled text, or the actual HTML code behind the message. Plain text is recommended for universal compatibility.

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. From the menu bar, click Tools, Options.
  3. Select the Send tab.
  4. Under Mail Sending Format select Plain Text.
  5. Click OK.

Deleting Mail

To PERMANENTLY remove deleted email from the email server:

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. From the menu bar click Tools, Options.
  3. Click the Maintenance tab.
  4. Check the Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders box.
  5. Click OK.

Account Maintenance

Go to mail.uark.edu and click the Account Summary and Options link to forward your email, set a vacation message, filter out unwanted email messages, and check your email quota.

To expand full headers in Outlook Express:

  1. While viewing a message, click File, Properties.
  2. Click the Details tab.
  3. The expanded header is displayed in the Internet headers for this message field.
  4. To send the full header, copy and paste the information into a new message.
