Mac OS X Address Book and iCal syncing with Exchange
NOTE: These instructions require Microsoft Office 2004 or 2008 for Macintosh with Entourage configured for use with exchange.uark.edu. Refer to the Entourage configuration instructions for the initial setup.
With Entourage configured for exchange.uark.edu, enable Microsoft Sync Services as follows:
- Select Entourage, Preferences..., and from the General Preferences list, select Sync Services.
- Check the box for Synchronize contacts with Address Book and .Mac.
- In the dropdown menu, make sure "Contacts [name of Exchange setup]" is selected, where "name of Exchange setup" is the name of your Exchange account in Entourage.
- Check the box for Synchronize events and tasks with iCal and .Mac.
- In the dropdown menu, make sure "Calendar [name of Exchange setup]" is selected, where "name of Exchange setup" is the name of your Exchange account in Entourage.
- Click OK
- In the Synchronization Options window that pops up, you will be asked if you'd like to:
- Combine Information
- Delete Entourage information
- Delete information from the Macintosh Address Book, iCal, and .Mac
The preferred option is to Combine Information, as this preserves all Exchange/Entourage, Address Book, and iCal data previously entered into those respective programs.
- Click OK
This configuration automatically adds a calendar called Entourage to your list of iCal calendars; this calendar will reflect events on the Exchange server.
NOTE: Events created in iCal can only be synchronized with the Exchange server when Entourage is launched; iCal does not communicate directly with Exchange, but does so through Entourage.
The Macintosh application Address Book will now reflect contacts as stored on your Exchange account, as well as any previously created Address Book contacts.
NOTE: Contacts added to Address Book can only be synchronized with the Exchange server when Entourage is launched. Address Book does not communicate directly with Exchange, but does so through Entourage.
