 2010-01-20 11:00  NEWS: Discontinuation of Dial-up Service

The University dial-up service will be discontinued effective March 31, 2010. In an effort to save the University $73,000 dollars per year, IT Services will not renew the contract for the dial-up service modem pool.

IT Services recommends that current University dial-up users refer to their phone, cable, or satellite providers for alternatives to connecting to the Internet from home (NetZero.com offers dial-up service starting at $9.95/month).

In April 2009, IT Services announced that the dial-up service would be maintained "as is", meaning that in case of a failure in the modem pool, services might not be restored. These conditions are still true up and until the discontinuation on March 31 of this year.

For questions, comments, or concerns please contact the IT Services Help Desk at 575-2905.
